AVAN IVAN REVIEW
Bala known for his sharp, decisive screenplays & also for his ability to handle any kind of scripts. He adds value to the script by choosing the exact cast & crew. This time he goes with Vishal & Arya, hopefully this will be his fifth success in a row.

Story:
Movie begins with the trade mark scenes of Bala. Both Arya & Vishal are the brothers with same father but different Mother's. Both doesnt maintain the good releationship on each other. There will more ego rifts between two & that makes the movie more humourous.

The Ego clashes b/w Kumbudren sami(Arya) & Walter Vannangamudi(Vishal) will carry us to the interval in a simple way. GM Kumar who acts as a Jammen is an one big plus for the humour scenes. Arya, Vishal & GM Kumar are outstanding in their timing comedies between them and its a perfect one to watch.

Ambika plays the role of Vishal's mother and Jaya Prabha plays the role of Arya's mother. Both the family will come together due to a incident which happens at a interval block.

Post Interval, RK will be introduce as villain. Then comes some serious things will happen around at the beginning of Climax. What happened to Arya & Vishal?? The climax answers all. Surya plays a cameo in the movie where he comes for a public meeting & he will explains his Agaram foundation & its operations.

Performance:
Vishal, who is an hero for the masses earlier have choosen the script where he comes as transgender here with Squint eyes and he delivers his best. Can see his effort in each & every scene of the movie. And for the first tym he comes out with this genre. Avan Ivan certainly a landmark for Vishal.
Arya as an younger brother in the film has did his best with his comedies & his dialogues are added flavour to the movie. Should appreciate bala for his casting sense, he can make any one to act like Sivaji or Kamal. Yuvan's songs & back ground scores adds value to the movie. The Vishal's intro BGM is Yuvan's treat to the masses. Avana Pathi Nan pada poren & Oru malayoram songs are one of the best from him. Suresh Urs's editing is slick and neat.
Janani Iyer who is the new comer did the justice role as innocent police constable and he is the pair for Vishal. Another lady lead role of the movie is Madhu Shalini who is the pair of Arya also did her role well.
However on the flip side, some dragging moments in second half could have been avoided. On the whole, it was an different experience watching a different film.

Verdict:
This is certainly not the kind of movie that you can munch popcorn through. Hats off Bala and team and three cheers to Vishal.

... Not Just SUPER STAR ... but ROBOT, ROBO, ENDIRAN !

Endiran / Robo / Robot review !

Where do I start? What do I say? Where do I end? Never has writing a review been such a tough job in my life. A film that you have been waiting for so long, a film starring the best actors and some of the best technicians of Indian cinema will always be loaded with expectations that eventually wont be satisfied. Something or the other will be mocked at - the story, screenplay, technicality, etc. But what if the film exceeds expectations and wants you gasping for more? Endhiran - The 'Chitti' Robot is one such film.

Story: Simple. A scientist creates a robot for a good cause. But its just a machine that doesnt have the feelings associated with a human being. What if the feelings are programmed into the robot? The side effects of doing such work is what the movie is all about. A simple story that allows ample opportunity for the director to enjoy his ride with incorporating special effects and graphics. For Tamil cinema, its a new attempt as far as story is concerned.

Screenplay: The first half is just very racy with humor sprinkled in good amount. The fight scene in the train is just hair raising. Rajni's performance as Chitti the Robot with its humor is just spell binding. His romance with Aishwarya though stands out like a sore thumb. Was there a need for the romantic scenes to be shown? Rajni for his age seemed very uncomfortable doing those scenes, and I feel Shankar could have avoided those scenes. But the Kadhal Anukkal song was delightful to watch with the locations, Ash's beauty and Rajni's charm. The first half is very gripping and ends on a high.

The second half starts off on decent note where the Robot shows signs of emotions. Though there were some fillers at the initial part of the second half, most of them did not stand out like irritants. The moment the Robot is retrieved and goes into wrong hands, the movie gains momentum rapidly and the villian side of Rajni comes out in full flow and thats when all the fun starts. It all goes like a rocket from then on and at various points, the action is jaw dropping. It becomes a riot, and culminates in a typical Shankar style climax but at the end, you feel the sense of huge satisfaction that here is a movie that starts well and ends well.

Songs: Song visualisations are the most expected part of Shankar films. Almost all songs are picturised lavishly and superbly. One just wonders the amount of effort Shankar puts into every song. Songs that sounded OK while listening to them alone come alive with Shankar's visuals (e.g. Arima Arima). The best songs are ranked in order.

1. Irumbile Oru Irudhayam - Superb dancing by Aishwarya. She is just fantastic in this song. Completely dominated by her
2. Arima Arima - Lavish to the core. 100 Rajni's and Ash. A visual treat!
3. Kilimanjaro - Beautiful location, just awesome. A very colorful song with good steps and sexy looks from Ash. Rajni with his 'Baba' look is also pleasing.
4. Kadhal Anukkal - Again, the location is excellent. Rajni's charm and Ash's gorgeous looks carry the song through
5. Boom Boom Robo Da - A fun song. Not much to write about
6. Pudhiya Manidha - Used for titles, and introduction. Used in bits.

Background Music: Rahman has done a decent job with the BGM's though for his standards, people are bound to feel let down. The second half where all things break loose, the BGM is very noisy to the point where your ear drums face a serious threat. But the 2.0 BGM is very catchy although whether it suited the scene is a different matter. Expect more from Rahman.

Other Cast: Nothing really noteworthy to write about the other cast except Santhanam, Karunas and Danny Denzongpa. Santhanam and Karunas have lesser work to do than some of their other films but are apt for their roles. Danny Denzongpa was a decent cast, but I felt Prakash Raj could have done a better job in that role. Danny reminded me of Suman in various places (especially the way he walks off from Chitti at the conference).

Aishwarya Rai: A heroine who suited an action adventure Tamil film? She made it possible. She was given ample screen time and she just killed people with her looks and beauty. Especially in the 'Irumbile' song, her dancing was fantastic. Though a typical heroine role, the way her role was given importance in the movement of the story is appreciated. Chemistry with Chitti the Robot was awesome because thats where the real Rajni surfaces. Ash proves that "in this world, she is one of the most notable creations" (Rajni's punch in the film).

Rajnikanth: The man! The Hero ! Not being a typical Superstar film, one was a little worried because his different attempts are not as celebrated. But this time, he selects a perfect film where he tries something different and ends up hugely successful. No starry airs, no punch dialogues, no mass entry, but he gets into the role and ends up lifting the product along with himself. His acting as 'Chitti', especially in the second half is truly spectacular. Sir, we need more of your villiany roles please. There were some whistling moments when he mimics a sheep and when he laughs, but on the whole, he underplays himself and gives the film the right amount of input to project itself. Here's wishing he now slips into more character oriented roles and skips the romancing around parts very soon. He clearly is not comfortable anymore doing that. A film where he is the hero and where he has no heroine would be as well received.

Shankar: Dream project, matching up to Hollywood standards. But this guy SIMPLY ROCKED THE SHOW! His imagination just ran wilder and wilder and left us gasping. He interspersed all of it with enough drama, comedy, romance, emotions (near the end), and made it a film that would be liked by all classes. He kept the technical jargon but satisfies the rural audience with the extravagant action and special effects. For the elites, they have the technical explanations to all the madness that goes on and most if it is believable. With more money, Shankar can work bigger wonders. I wonder what would have happened had he done this film with Kamal Haasan who is not bound by the image that a Rajnikanth is trapped with. But Shankar provides ultimate magic with Rajnikanth too who reciprocates Shankar's faith in him and does what is asked of him. Shankar is a dream director for India, and hope he stays with us and makes even bigger films that expand our reputation beyond set boundaries.

Overall: As Rajnikanth said, "Its truly an experience" to watch this film. People came out so contended with the film and its been a long time since a highly hyped and highly anticipated Tamil film (or for that matter Indian film) satisfies the majority of the audience. Minor aberrations aside, this one deserves REPEATED VIEWINGS. Highly recommended for everyone!

Enthiran (also spelt asEndhiran, aka Robo in Telugu and ROBOT Hindi) is all set to hit the screens on October 1, 2010. The movie will be releasing with over 2000 prints worldwide.

Produced by Sun Pictures' Kalanithi Maran, directed by Shankar, music by A.R. Rahman and cinematography by Ratnavelu, the movie also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa and Santhanam.

Sivaji Movie - DELETED Scenes !
oops .... Why did they cut these scenes ?

VIVEK Rocks !!

Happy Days;

..... truly reflects campus life from Day 1 to Farewell Day. Its like watching a college campus video.

Story Out-Line;

Ego clash because of the guy wants to kiss the girl, Possesiveness, Junior - Senior difference in Love, Friendship, Love !!

Its the pleasant story of boys and girls studying in a college. Happy Days, that's part autobiographical and part imagination, portraiting eight fresher as they go through regular campus life experiences that include: studies, Ragging, Friendship,Love.

Fist half of the film goes with introduction of characters. Second half appears to be little dragged but thats totally necessary for what happens when four love stories are to be concluded. I like the pair Rajesh & Appu, awesome chemistry.

Direction;

Director dares to take a totally different approach to movie making and story telling. It's a wonder what Sekhar has done with eight raw talents that had hardly faced the camera before. He extracts the best from these chaps and makes the characters as real as it's possible. There are a lot of things to be learnt from the movie.For those that are still in college, Happy Days can provide a newer perspective of their campus lives.

Minus;

- I feel Director Shekar could have added a bit more about parent's -children friction and how they come to understanding.
- The film is good on a whole but it pleases only the audiences who are aware of campus education. It is not a right dish for typical mass audiences anyway. It appeals for multiplex audiences, educated crowds. So, might loose the collection from those crowd.
- One boy from Village was introduced very well, But there is a ending to that character without the justification how he managed to learn English, Communication ???
- Tyson doing some scientific tricks. The extent of the tricks should have been limited.

Plus;

+ Micki J Mayors music has a separate mark for itself.
+ Camera man has captured every expressions of the student reaction inside the classroom, in Fight & Songs with a very natural feel.

Impressed;

1. The separation scene of Tyson and Sravanthi is very fascinating.
2. The way he ended the love thread between Tyson and Sravanthi.( ha ha ... or else it would have been the message by the director that it is ok to love your senior girls in the college.)
3. Farewell Song.

I loved the message that director tried to present a boy's character is judged by the kind of girls he roams with,Then what ever you are before, The college life may fail you to achieve great academic rewards, but it will definitely give you the ability to achieve any thing. College Days are Happy Days. The days that follow college days are purposeful days.

HEROISM in Movies... Still, how looooong ?

How can you watch Movies with the same old heroism for so many years? With Different Hero’s playing the same role? How can one Hero speak the truth and bash up 100 men or more? How long can we watch ageing heroes dancing with 20 0r 30 group dancers and wooing teenage heroines. How long can we watch the same old roles by heroes? Don’t we want to see new innovative scripts, screen plays, different performances like Mozhi, Paruthiveeran, Chennai-28, Kattradhu Tamizh, Veyil, Kaaka Kaaka, Unnaale Unnaale, Autograph, Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Vetayadu Vilayadu.

I agree Cinema is an entertainment medium and it has different faces. Every human has some colorful dreams and fantasies and when some are successful in bringing those dreams & fantasies in screen for people to enjoy, looses the reality & Repeating that in several movies, spoils the total commercial movies trend. Yeah! You can make movies with realities, fantasies, social awareness etc. People in different parts of the world have different taste; practices, choices and you will be an idiot if you say only my taste is THE BEST. I enjoy the masala movies of KS Ravikumar, Rajinikanth, Ajit, and Vijay and at the same time I watch and enjoy the movies of Cheran, Adoor Gobalakrishnan too. You do not have the right to criticize the taste of others. You can criticize the Barathanatyam in terms of Barathanatyam logistics but you can’t criticize Barathanatyam comparing to Kuchupodi. Watch Masala movies as Masala movies and Art films as art films. What matters is the Enjoyment... Entertainment!

I like to clarify that I am not a Tamil movie basher or any other language movies; I do respect all languages & their culture. In fact, I would like to know different kinds of cultures, traditions and practices…. which can only be watched in Movies, That’s the reason why I have started watching all languages & kinds of movies. I just don’t like heroism in all Indian/Hollywood movies without the reality. People call heroism as entertainment and I beg to differ here. What is an entertainment? 1 hero bashing up 100 people coming in trucks with swords? Good movies are Masala movies and Art movies are not entertaining movies. Many good movies have come in Bollywood movies like Chak De, Rang De Basanti, Life in a metro, Guru, Gandhi my father etc. But now a day’s lots of Hindi movies just exploit sex & women, most of the movies releases with 1 or 2 item songs… They just give importance to Glamour, than to the story. Different producers & Directors end up in making cheap sensual movies that tickle audience and fleece their pockets. Many movies are made with the label of art films but actually the producers, as George Orwell comments, ‘exploit white women's legs'. Actors also accepts the weird movie offers to favor the quick source of money. The value of true acting has ebbed out, now what remains is the exposure of flesh.

Thanks to the Directors who has made good enough movies & I... we Still expect more from you Brains !!
UnNaALe UnNaALe is such a wonderful & touching movie...All the songs are beautifully crafted according to the story line. I was deeply touched with the Climax of the story.

I loved everyone's performance from the movie ! Especially, Vinay I love his acting & Dialog delivery. Tanisha fitted the character, Sadha has choosen a bold move by choosing such a character in this movie, Also I Would like to give special recongnition to Raju Sundaram and Sathish ! Hatsoff to Jeeva, who is no more in the earth, its a huge loss to Tamil film industry.
